Watching standard definition television with aspect ratio of 16:9?
i got a 46' HDTV
using TelusTv
using RCA cables at the moment
Both TelusTv and my TV settings are in 16:9
when watching standard definition channels there are 2 black bars on the side....is that normal?
and another questions..if i have the HDMI cable, do i still need the RCA cables for the standard def channels or HDMI cable will cover that was well..THanks
Yes the black bars are normal, nothing to worry about here.
There are options to where you can stretch the picture to fill the whole screen, after a couple minutes, I didn't even notice the stretch very much.
The SD shows will be sent down the HDMI cables, but don't expect them to be HD quality. It will carry the signal, but unless it's an HD signal, it'll still be displayed as SD with the black bars.
If you send an HD signal down that HDMI cable (Blu-Ray player, HD TV, etc.) then it'll be there in all it's wonderful HD glory.
